As a research and development group, the Talking Science team builds on its research findings to support STEM learning experiences designed for children and families in non-school settings. The resources we develop alongside our partners aim to provide practitioners, families, and other stakeholders tools that align with socioemotional bonding, culturally situated experiences, and existing knowledge to nurture a love for STEM. Much of this work seeks to benefit families from diverse Latine communities across the country. We will continue to work on updating this page.
Attention Educators at Science Museums & Centers and in After School Programs!
We're currently looking for feedback from educators at informal STEM learning institutions on our Family Engagement Rubrics and Guide. This resource was developed for educators designing and evaluating educational programs at institutions in cities with large Latino populations. The rubrics aim to serve as both a guide and evaluation tool for existing or new youth STEM programming that aims to increase youth STEM identity and family participation. Our rubrics have been informed by researchers and practitioners, and now our team is looking for educators interested in using them and telling us about their usefulness in practice.
